Requiem commemorates traffic victims
(VOVworld) - A requiem for the souls of traffic accident victims was held at Bai Dinh pagoda in the northern province of Ninh Binh on Saturday.
The requiem was part of activities in response to World Day of Remembrance for Victims of Road Traffic Accidents on November 17th. At the ceremony, tens of thousands of Buddhist monks, nuns, followers and relatives of victims gathered to pray for the peace of the victims’ souls.
In his address, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Vo Xuan Phuc conveyed his sympathy to the families of the victims. He said: “I call on all the relevant agencies and the people to do what we can to ensure traffic safety. We should be more responsible to ourselves, our families and society and share with the losses with the victims’ families.”
This has been the second year Vietnam responded to World Day of Remembrance for Victims of Road Traffic Accidents.
