Vietnam, Canada set to increase bilateral trade to 10 billion USD by 2027

(VOVworld) - A conference on enhancing the partnership between Vietnam and Canada took place in Hanoi on Monday, gathering 200 government officials, business delegates and representatives from Canadian non-governmental organizations.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc said that Vietnam attached great importance to strengthening relations with Canada, adding that trade is a highlight in bilateral ties. The two nations plan to push the two-way trade turnover to 10 billion USD in the next ten years. Canada has so far channeled 5.2 billion USD into 149 projects in Vietnam, and is ranked at 14th out of 112 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.

Mr. Ngoc said Vietnam will host APEC 2017 and is determined to make it a success, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Canadian non-governmental organizations were also informed about local projects set for further cooperation in the future.
