Vietnamese physicians honored

(VOVworld) – A number of activities nationwide have marked the Vietnamese Physicians’ Day, which falls on February 27th.

On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam offered incense in Hung Yen province to well-known Vietnamese physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac, who laid the foundation for Vietnamese medicine. The same day, a ceremony took place in Ho Chi Minh City to honor the contributions of physicians and medical workers.
Labor Hero Doctor Nguyen Chan Hung, who is President of the Vietnam Cancer Association, addressed the event: “I hope the government will map out a health strategy focusing on building more hospitals, and increasing qualified medical personnel and cooperation between medical training facilities and hospitals. We also need to pay more attention to community health.”

At a meeting of 80 prominent physicians in Hanoi, municipal health officials said the sector will further expand the medical network at the grassroots level. It has targeted 25 communes and wards for medical stations meeting national standards. All these centers will be staffed with doctors.

Medical workers in Dak Nong province gathered at a meeting to review the sector’s contributions to national development. Provincial authorities pledged to implement policies to attract qualified personnel and improve medical services.

On Tuesday, the Russian chapter of the Vietnam-Russia Oriental Medicine Association held its first congress. With 50 member doctors working in Russia, the non-profit organisation aims to develop and promote traditional Vietnamese medicine abroad.
