Vietnam’s economy sees positive signs in the first half of the year
(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s GDP rose to 6.28 percent in the first half of this year, surpassing the target of 6.2 percent. This was stated at press conference held by the General Statistics Office on Friday in Hanoi to report the socioeconomic statistics in the first half of the year.

The Office reported that industry and construction sector made up the highest value, followed by agriculture, forestry and seafood. Over the past 6 months, business activities have seen positive signs compared to the same period last year in terms of increasing number of newly registered businesses and capital. Meanwhile, the number of enterprises stopping operation was down by 0.9 percent compared to the previous year. Pham Dinh Thuy, head of the Industry Statistics Department under the General Statistics Office said: “The economic recovery was attributable to the government’s effective management measures. The revised Enterprise Law which will take effect in July has great impact, helping improve business environment. Moreover, 2015 promises opportunities for Vietnam’s economy to recover and develop. This is positive signs for newly-registered enterprises which considerably affects the national economy”.
According to the General Statistics Office, in the first half of this year, the export turnover was estimated to be 77.7 billion USD, up 9 percent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the import reached 81.5 billion USD, an increase of 17.7 percent year on year.
