This year’s summer volunteer campaign, which was launched early this week, is themed “The Youth of Hanoi acts creatively and voluntarily for the community,” and will be carried out in July and August. At the launch ceremony, the Hanoi Municipal Youth Union Committee assigned missions to nine municipal volunteer teams. The organizers also launched a blood drive, an environmental protection campaign, and an information campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic. Chu Hong Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union and Chairman of the Hanoi Students' Association, said: "We try to encourage local youth to gte involved in social activities. We hope that every summer volunteer campaign will give local youth an opportunity to use their knowledge and skills to benefit their community."

500 students and pupils from Quang Ninh province’s Van Don district are heading to the 17 most disadvantaged communes to help the local communities. Pham Thuy Duong, Youth Union Secretary of Van Yen commune in Van Don district, told VOV: "There are numerous programs for our Youth Union members to take part in, including cleaning up local beaches, helping students during their exam periods, and supporting the  local people in the new rural development campaign. I’m confident that they will do their best in every task they are given." Two Youth Union members shared their views:

"In the summer of 2020, the Civil Engineering University has assigned its students to establish a task force of 200 people to ensure local security and protect the environment. We have also organized activities to support vulnerable old people and children," said a Youth Union member of the Civil Engineering University.

"This summer I will assist students during their exam period and donate blood. Such activities allow me to improve my skills and knowledge while contributing to the community," said another member of the Youth Union.
