(VOVworld) – Vietnam has seven world cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO, 44,000 scenic spots and historical sites, and 8,000 festivals. In recent years Vietnam have concentrated on promoting these advantages for tourism development.

Lai Chau province will host a Cultural festival of ethnic groups as part of the tourism cooperation program of 8 northwestern provinces and the National Tourism Year of the northwestern region and Lao Cai province. The festival will feature the cultures of 20 ethnic groups as provincial tourism specialties.
Hoang Quoc Trung, Deputy Director of Lai Chau provincial Department of Culture, Sport, and Tourism, said: “Some ethnic groups live only in Lai Chau province like Cong, Mang, La Hu, Lao, and Lu. We have mapped out tourism development projects, focusing on cultural advantages and eco-tourism in ethnic minority areas.”
The Cua Ong Temple Festival in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh province, late this month will highlight local culture. Pham Van Kinh, Vice Chairman of the Cam Pha city People’s Committee, said: “The Cua Ong Temple Festival will be recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage this year. The festival will have folk games and a singing contest to promote local culture.”
