(VOVworld) – The culture of ethnic minority groups is a precious asset, helping to enrich Vietnam’s culture, head of the Northwestern region’s Steering Committee Nguyen Van Binh said at the second national cultural festival of the Mong ethnic minority group.

At the festival’s opening ceremony in Ha Giang province at weekend, Binh underlined the importance of preserving the cultural identities of ethnic minorities and Mong people in particular, considering it a political task in the national industrialization and modernization.
During the three-day festival which drew delegations from 13 provinces nationwide, a range of cultural, sport, folk games, and tourism activities were held.
The event offered a chance to raise the minority groups’ awareness of preserving and developing the cultural values of Mong ethnic group and introduce the provinces’ tourist and cultural products to domestic and foreign visitors.
