Democratic and constructive

Many deputies called the Q and A session candid and straightforward. Their arguments reflected the aspirations of the voters they represent. The debate was frank, constructive, and effective as deputies and ministers made the most of their time to get to the bottom of each problem. 

Although in office for only one year, the Government officials showed an in-depth understanding of what they are in charge of, according to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

“Whether a newbie – like Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan, State Bank Governor Nguyen Thi Hong, and Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc – or an experienced responder like Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The, each showed a firm grasp of the current situation in their area. Their answers were candid and did not ignore the many difficult and complicated problems that have persisted through multiple sessions,” Mr. Hue said.

The topics selected were pending issues that have remained unresolved for many years as well as emerging problems. Trinh Xuan An, a deputy for Dong Nai province, said:“This hearing is not just about reviewing our responsibilities, but also suggestions and maybe a plan for future work. The responses made deputies feel more secure about the proposed roadmaps.”

Repercussions

During two and a half days of Q and A, the exchange between deputies and ministers was open for the public to view and evaluate.

In his closing remarks, National Assembly Chairman Hue said the results of the Q&A session showed the diligence, seriousness, and responsibility of the Government, Prime Minister, and cabinet members. On the basis of these Q&A results, the Assembly will conduct effective oversight at upcoming meetings.
