Hanoi International Film Festival 2022 to promote capital city

(VOVWORLD) - The 6th Hanoi International Film Festival is taking place until Saturday with the slogan "Cinema - Humanities, Adaptation, and Development". The film festival is a cultural event that promotes the beauty of Vietnam and Hanoi’s history.

The Film Festival discovers new talent, creates opportunities to expand the Vietnamese film market, and honors cinematographic works that are rich in humanity and with outstanding and unique creative imprints.

The trailer of the Hanoi International Film Festival features Hanoi’s iconic images and the agenda of the event.

The festival's entries include more than 120 films from more than 50 countries and territories. The host country, Vietnam, contributed 22 contemporary films. They have won awards at international film festivals such as the Berlin International Film Festival, the Cannes Festival, the Sundance Film Festival, the Venice International Film Festival, and the Toronto International Film Festival.

Do Lenh Hung Tu, Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association, said: “The organizing board has invited many countries to join the festival. Long series and movies are the most interesting works.”

This year’s Hanoi International Film Festival will award the biggest prize, worth 5,000 USD, for the best long film, the best short film, and the best male and female main characters. There will be awards for the best short film director and promising young director. The Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee will present an award for the best film about Hanoi.

The Closing Ceremony of the Festival was inspired by the culture, heritage, and people of Hanoi. The stage is a stylized design that bears Hanoi's cultural stamp.

Vi Kien Thanh, director of the Cinema Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: “The festival will become a Vietnamese brand in the international cinematography. This year the festival will include tours to visit Hanoi’s scenic spots and heritages.”

Jasmine, the latest film by the Director, People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh and produced in 2022, is the only Vietnamese long film to compete at the 6th Hanoi International Film Festival. Jasmine was screed to open the Festival at the National Center for Cinematography on Tuesday.
