The annual awards, sponsored by the Sports and Culture newspaper and the family of the late painter Bui Xuan Phai since 2008, honors authors, works, ideas, and jobs of great scientific or artistic value inspired by a love for Hanoi.
Painter Bui Xuan Phai was a founder of modern art in Vietnam and is famous for his paintings of old Hanoi.
The Grand Prize honored Tran Van Thuy for his films about Hanoi, such as “Hanoi In Whose Eyes” and “The Story of Kindness”.
This year’s Bui Xuan Phai Awards also honored Best Work, Best Job, and Best Idea, and presented prizes to the winners of a photo and video clip contest.
Over the past 15 years, the award is not only a great spiritual gift for Hanoi, but also a practical and creative way of Sports and Culture journalists in building and promoting role models, spreading positiveness in society, and using cultural soft power to make life better.
