A performance of Hue Royal Court Music

The Hue Festival 2018 will feature special cultural performances and promote world heritages in Hue recognized by UNESCO. They include the Complex of Hue Monuments, Hue Royal Court Music, Woodblocks of the Nguyen Dynasty, Imperial Records of the Nguyen Dynasty, and Royal Literature on Hue Royal Architecture.

Nguyen Dung, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee and Head of the Hue Festival Organizing Board, says: “Art troupes of 20 countries have registered to perform at the festival. The Kinh Ky Cultural Program, which features royal culture, will then be performed regularly at the Hue Royal Palace. We have prepared a special culinary program and a seminar on Hue cuisine. No other city in Vietnam has 5 world heritages. We are preparing dossiers for other heritages.”

Traditional and contemporary art of Vietnam and other countries will be displayed at the Royal Palace, An Dinh Palace, and other public places. The Festival will to re-enact imperial life in a spectacle called “Hue Royal Inspiration” together with programs introducing Hue folk arts and royal art, including Buddhism cultural events, a national competition of “Chầu văn” (spiritual singing), kite flying, and  street performances themed “Cultural Colours”.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy says: “Being thoroughly prepared Hue Festival 2018 will have impressive activities by famous Vietnamese and world art troupes. The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will work closely with Thua Thien-Hue province to organize the colorful Festival to show off Hue’s heritages.”

The last Hue Festival attracted 60 Vietnamese art troupes and 70 foreign troupes from all continents. Next year’s event promises travelers from near and far an enjoyable and inspiring experience.
