Bach Long Vi, more than 100 kilometers from the mainland, is the most remote island in the Gulf of Tonkin. For Lunar New Year 2024, delegations from Command of Navy Region 1 delivered gifts to the people and soldiers on the island.
“We bring Tet wishes and gifts from the mainland to the soldiers and people on Bach Long Vy island. No matter how difficult it is, no matter what conditions and circumstances, we are determined to defend the sovereignty of Vietnam’s islands and seas,” said Rear Admiral Tran Xuan Van, Political Commissar of Navy Region 1.
“We pledge to maintain a peaceful, stable marine environment in which people can celebrate a joyful, warm, happy Tet.”

Ships carrying Tet gifts to Bach Long Vi island is an annual activity to encourage the soldiers and people on the island and demonstrate the care of the Ministry of National Defense and the Navy Command.
Serviceman Vuong Quoc Anh said he will spend Tet away from home, but the care and encouragement of people on the mainland and his comrades warms his heart.
“I’d like to wish the mainland a happy Tet. I also wish my comrades on duty on other islands a warm Tet holiday and successful completion of their assigned tasks,” said Anh.
The delegations of the Command of Navy Region 1 have brought spring to the island, tightened the bond between soldiers and civilians, and encouraged those on the islands to develop the marine economy and defend the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
