"Golden time" of recovery
The 19-day session evaluated socio-economic development performance in the first months of 2022. Deputies recognized a bright economic picture highlighted by growth rate because, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam's economy continues to show signs of rapid recovery. They said Vietnam has several favorable conditions to speed up recovery, inflation is stable and resources are properly balanced.
Analyzing global geopolitics and inflation pressure, the National Assembly decided to accelerate disbursement of public investment capital and the Socio-Economic Recovery and Development Program. These decisions are intended to free up resources, overcome difficulties, and quickly restore the economy.
Some deputies pushed for fiscal policy, monetary support, and quantitative targets for work to be completed in order to effectively implement the Economic Recovery and Development Program and take advantage of this "golden time" of national recovery and development.
Deputy Be Minh Duc, who represents Cao Bang province, said: “I hope the national programs and projects and bills and resolutions of the National Assembly will spur the country's rapid and sustainable development, resulting in a positive impact on disadvantaged areas.”
Infrastructure for long-term development
The National Assembly approved investment in five major national infrastructure projects, including the first phase of the Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot expressway, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway, and Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang expressway. The Assembly chose public investment instead of public-private partnership given the importance and urgency of these projects.
