Vietnam will receive foreign tourists via international border gates by road, sea, and air. It will resume the entry visa policies for foreign tourists in place before 2020. Foreign visitors aged 12 and over must have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a certificate of COVID-19 recovery issued by a competent authority and recognized by Vietnam.

They must go straight to registered accommodations and have no contact with the community before having a quick test at their home or hotel within 24 hours after arrival. Once they have a negative result for SARS-CoV2, they can travel freely. If they test positive, they must self-quarantine or undergo medical treatment pursuant to Health Ministry rules.

Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism, said: “Our first priority is ensuring COVID-19 pandemic control. That’s prerequisite for reopening tourism. Quarantine rules for pandemic control are different between localities. I’ve asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Health Ministry to issue revised pandemic regulations once tourism is fully open, taking into consideration the Government’s Resolution 128 on safely and flexibly adapting to COVID-19.”

The tourism sector will launch more promotional communications on digital platforms, participate in international tourism fairs, and improve its services, facilities, and human resources to boost the competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism. For domestic travelers, localities will reopen their tourism sites and receive visitors according to local conditions. This year the tourism sector plans to receive 65 million travelers, including 5 million foreign tourists, and earn revenues, of 17.5 billion USD.
