(VOVWORLD) - In face of the new corona virus, the Vietnamese government, ministries, sectors, and localities have implemented proactive response measures to prevent and treat infected people.

Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen, who is also Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for new coronavirus-caused pneumonia response, said that as of Thursday, 5 cases had been reported in Vietnam. Two Chinese persons are being treated at the Cho Ray hospital in Ho Chi Minh city.
Three Vietnamese coronavirus patients participated in a training course in Wuhan 2 months ago.
All 5 patients have been isolated and are being closely monitored. Localities that have reported cases have implemented preventive measures.
In Lang Son province which borders China, local authorities have strengthened preventive measures, alerted health workers, and prepared medicines, medical equipment, and isolation areas to receive infected patients.
Nguyen The Toan, Director of the Lang Son Department of Health, said: "We have reserved the Dong Dang clinic for suspected cases and prepared 50 beds in the isolation area. Wehave prepared isolated200 beds as well as respirators, specialized vehicles, and ambulances."
In Thanh Hoa province, where 2 people tested positive for coronavirus, the provincial hospital is closely monitoring persons who had contact with the two patients and has prepared medicines and equipment for an epidemic.
Pham Dang Quyen, Deputy Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, said there are about 700 Chinese people working in the province who will be coming back to work after Tet.
“We are closely watching the situation. When the Chinese workers come back to the province after Tet, they will be quarantined at the airports and border gates before entering Vietnam. In the province, we will work with the health sector to closely monitor them and take prompt action in response to any infected cases,” Quyen said.
In Lao Cai province, which has a long border with China, local authorities have strengthened better control and monitoring to permit prompt reports of any infected cases. Two body temperature scanners have been installed at the Lao Cai international border gate.
The Ministry of Health has set up 45 task forces in response to the virus. It suggests that peopleavoid contact with anyone coming from an affected area. Anyone with a fever, cough or difficulty breathing is advised to go to hospital for prompt diagnosis and treatment.
