WEF 2022 has convened 2,500 state leaders, economists, and leaders of non-governmental organizations, businesses, and other organizations under the theme “History at a Turning Point: Government Policies and Business Strategies”. The Forum seeks solutions to the world’s most urgent challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, geoeconomic shocks, and climate change.
Vietnam introduces its socio-economic development strategy
After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Forum provides an opportunity for Vietnam’s leaders to introduce in person to global leaders and businesses its socio-economic development strategy and policies in the new period, covering tourism, trade, investment attraction, economic recovery, transition to green growth, digitalization, and its strong commitments to multilateral cooperation and sustainable development goals.
Mr. Khai will outline Vietnam’s vision at key discussions on food security and digital ASEAN development. He had a working session with WEF President Borge Brende on continued bilateral cooperation and an agreement that will create a framework for future cooperative programs between Vietnam and the WEF to help Vietnam carry out its socio-economic development strategy until 2025 and towards 2030.
Vietnam values cooperation with WEF
The cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the WEF began in 1989. The WEF is an important dialogue forum where Vietnamese government leaders and foreign corporations can generate ideas for economic reform and bringing investment to Vietnam.
Over the past three decades, Vietnamese senior leaders have regularly attended the WEF’s annual meetings in Davos and East Asia, where they have put forward new ideas and feasible cooperation plans. Vietnam collaborated with the WEF in organizing the WEF-East Asia meeting in Ho Chi Minh City in 2010, the WEF-Mekong meeting in 2016 in Hanoi, and the WEF-ASEAN meeting in 2018 in Hanoi.
In October 2021 a national Strategic Dialogue between Vietnam and the WEF was held for the first time, which the WEF called the most successful national dialogue yet in terms of participants, content, timetable, and organization.
The World Economic Forum 2022 is a new opportunity for Vietnam help shape the future and promote its advantages as an investment destination for global businesses.
