(VOVworld)- The 11^th Party Central Committee convened its 11^th Plenum in Hanoi on Monday. Chaired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the meeting will discuss personnel plans for the next tenure, the number of delegates to the 12^th National Party Congress, the organization of local administration, and the Long Thanh International Airport project. A report on the Party Politburo’s performance since the 10^th plenum will also be debated.

In his opening speech, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong urged the Party Central Committee and the Politburo to thoroughly work out personnel directions for the 12^th National Party Congress according to Party regulations. The Party leader stressed the crucial importance of this task saying that it would serve as a basis for the preparation of personnel for the 12^th Party Central Committee, the Party Politburo, the Party Secretariat, the Party General Secretary, and the Party Inspection Commission as well as key leaders of state agencies during the 2016-2021 period. Trong said that it was important to set up a Party Central Committee who can play the role of a political leading body with strong fighting spirit and be a center of solidarity and consensus for the Party and the entire nation. Trong cited the importance of this task saying it could decide the future of the Party and the nation: “Each member of the Party Central Committee needs to be fully aware of the importance of this task and focus on thoroughly analyzing the relevant issues. Members of the Party Central Committee, the Party Politburo, and the Party Secretariat must have a strong political stance, and be consistent with the goals of national independence and socialism, loyal to the Marxism- Leninism, Ho Chi Minh’s Thoughts, the Party Platform, the Constitution and national interests. They must be moral and lead a healthy lifestyle and not corrupted or opportunist and be aware of maintaining and protecting unity within the Party and having the respect of the people”.

Regarding the model of local administration, the Party chief noted that the renewal of local government was significant to the country’s renewal cause as well as the efficiency of the socialist law-governed State. He expressed his hope that committee members would actively contribute opinions, especially on the selection of a local government model, and supporting the National Assembly in developing a Law on Local Administration. In regard to the Long Thanh international airport project in southern Dong Nai province, the Party General Secretary said it was crucial for the committee to draw up plans to assist the National Assembly on deciding on investment plans for the project in conformity with the law.

The 11^th Plenum of the 11^th Party Central Committee will continue until May 7^th.
