12th National Party Congress: international integration to improve Vietnam’s global status
(VOVworld) – Delegates to the 12th National Party Congress continued to discuss documents submitted to the congress on Saturday. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung chaired the meeting. Deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Thao Xuan Sung said relations between the Party and the people are a decisive factor in enhancing national unity in the renewal process. He said: “Efforts should be made to improve the Party’s leadership and institutionalize the 2013 Constitution towards enhancing democracy and building a socialist state of the people, by the people, and for the people. This is to ensure state power belongs to the people.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh presented a report on the importance of international integration in national development and defense. He reviewed Vietnam’s achievements in external relations over the last 5 years and said that international integration should be prioritized in the next 5-10 years to create long-term, stable relations with partners and ensure political and security stability in order to improve Vietnam’s global status. Mr. Minh said: “First of all, It’s important to coordinate measures to implement directions for external relations to be set by the 12th National Party Congress and increase the Party’s leadership in Vietnam’s international integration. Second, it’s necessary to deepen partnerships, particularly strategic and comprehensive partnerships as well as political, trade, and investment ties. Finally, it’s essential to realize international commitments, which requires the involvement of not only state agencies but also localities, businesses, and the people.”
Delegates also heard the 11th Party Central Committee’s report on the proposed personnel for the 12th Party Central Committee.
The Communist Party of Vietnam has so far received 200 messages of congratulations from political parties and international organizations on its 12th National Congress.
