16 Vietnamese citizens have left Sudan as violence escalates

(VOVWORLD) -As violence is escalating in Sudan, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt, which also covers Sudan, to continue closely monitoring the situation, ready to take protection measures, and ensure the lawful and legitimate rights and interests of the Vietnamese citizens if needed.

According to the latest information from the Vietnamese Embassy, one person with dual Vietnamese and Australian citizenship is living in the capital city of Khartoum. 16 other Vietnamese citizens, who were crew-members of a ship docked at a port in Sudan, have already left Sudan.

Fighting between the RSF and Sudanese army forces broke out last Saturday in the capital Khartoum and several other places, including the Darfur region, killing more than 400 people and injuring 3,500, according to the World Health Organization.
