During the week-long journey, beginning on Sunday, the participants will visit several islands on the Truong Sa archipelago and the DK1 platform. They will present gifts and have art exchange programs with officials, soldiers and people working and living on the islands.

At the ceremony, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Bui Quang Huy emphasized that the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos have always been sacred, integral parts of Vietnam, which have been protected by generations of Vietnamese people.  He urged young people to continue to firmly protect national sea and islands saying it’s their honor and responsibility.

Over the past few years, the Youth Union has organized multiple campaigns and programs to encourage youth union members to protect the country's sovereignty over seas and islands, territorial waters, continental shelf and exclusive economic zone.
