(VOVWORLD) - The 2024 Festival for Peace, with the theme "Joining Hands to Create a Peaceful World", opened on Saturday at the Hien Luong-Ben Hai Special National Relic Site in Quang Tri province.

The event will run throughout July, featuring a cultural-cuisine festival, an art program, a Trinh Cong Son music night called "Song of Peace", the "Wish for Peace" program, and an international conference on the topic of peace.
In her speech at the opening ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan commended Quang Tri province’s initiative in organizing the festival.
Having endured multiple wars, Vietnamese people understand deeply the value of peace, she said, adding that Vietnam has been consistent in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, diversification, and multilateralization, while being a reliable friend and partner in the international community for peace, friendship, stability, cooperation, and development.

The 2024 Festival for Peace conveys the message about the vitality of Vietnam, a friendly, peace-loving nation. Both locals and visitors from inside and outside Vietnam should join hands to elevate the festival’s reputation as a unique and prestigious cultural brand, recognized both domestically and internationally, the Vice President said.
The 2024 Festival for Peace is jointly held by Quang Tri province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
