This year’s Festival, the biggest so far, brings together representatives from three journalists’ associations and more than 600 press agencies. 112 booths display publications covering all aspects of economics, politics, culture, society, defense, security, and foreign affairs.
In his opening speech, Nguyen Trong Nghia, head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Communication and Education, underlined the need to renovate press activities.
“The press needs to do theoretical research, review its communication of the Party and State’s guidelines and policies, and fight against corruption and negativity. The press should serve as a bridge between the Party, State and people, guiding and encouraging the people to follow the Party and State's guidelines and policies,” said Mr. Nghia.

He added that the press should provide a forum to promote democracy and the values of an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity and a forum for people to contribute to the nation’s affairs.
Between Thursday and Sunday, the Festival will hold music and art performances, the spring press awards, and discussions about the essential role of the revolutionary press in digital transformation.
