3 Vietnamese tourists killed in roadside bomb blast in Egypt

(VOVWORLD) - 3 Vietnamese tourists were killed and 12 others injured when a roadside bomb blast hit their tour bus in Egypt on Friday.

The blast occurred when the bus carrying 15 Vietnamese tourists was running on El-Maryoutiya street, in Haram district, Giza province, en route to the airport for their departure to Vietnam. Investigation is underway and no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Tran Thanh Cong came to the site of the attack and to the Al Ahram hospital where the injured are being treated. He said the Embassy will do its utmost to protect citizens and help the wounded to recover and return home soon. Later the same day, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited the injured Vietnamese tourists at the hospital. He said the Egyptian Tourism Minister will meet the Vietnamese Ambassador shortly and what is important now is to take care of the injured.
