6 dead, 14 missing as storm Wipha hit northern Vietnam
(VOVWORLD) - 6 people have died and 14 remain missing as storm Wipha brought torrential rains and strong wind to northern localities over the weekend.

Thanh Hoa province had the most fatalities with three deaths and 12 missing people, according to the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control. Representatives of the agriculture ministry and Thanh Hoa province visited Sa Na hamlet in Thanh Hoa which was heavily struck by the storm. Rescue teams have approached some remote areas in Na Meo district.
“We are searching missing people and have provided food for the affected households,” said a border guard.
Ho Tien Thieu, Vice Chairman of Lang Son province, one of the affected localities, said: “We are gearing up to help the storm victims rebuild houses and resume production. Relevant agencies have inspected areas with high risks of landslides and flash floods to minimize potential losses.”
