(VOVWORLD) -5 more provinces in Vietnam that rolled out AstraZeneca vaccination on Thursday are Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Long An, according to the National Expanded Immunization Program.

Hai Duong, Hanoi, Gia Lai and Ho Chi Minh City began COVID-19 vaccination on Monday. After 4 days, a total of 1,585 people, who are frontline medical staff, have been injected.
30 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines purchased by the Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company have been handed over to the Ministry of Health at non-profit prices. 117,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine in Vietnam, are being given to the priority group. The next batch of vaccines under the Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company contract is expected to arrive in Vietnam from April to August 2021.
By the end of April, Vietnam will receive more than 4 million doses from Covax, a global risk-sharing mechanism for pooled procurement and equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. The remaining 25.9 million doses committed by Covax are expected to be shipped to Vietnam between August and November 2021.
