(VOVworld) – A workshop on building trust in communication opened in Hanoi on Saturday within the framework of the ongoing 50^th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).

Delegates agreed that trust plays an important role in the survival and development of global media organizations, particularly in the context of the booming social media. They also agreed that by providing honest, objective and non-biased information, media agencies will gain the trust of their audience. Aidan White, Director of the Ethical Journalism Network, said that trust is an important criterion to meet the audience’s expectation. He said that communicators should work on the basis of moral regulations and that close cooperation among media agencies is needed to better serve audiences.
