(VOVworld) - National Assembly deputies have reviewed a national target program on new rural areas towards agricultural restructuring. During their discussion on Friday, a deputy from Binh Phuoc province, Nguyen Tuan Anh, recommends: “The government should support provinces facing difficulties in restructuring to ensure consistent approach nationwide while leveraging unique local context. Cooperation with experts in the drafting of restructuring plan will help promote local advantages and initiatives.”

A deputy representing Bac Lieu province, Lai Xuan Mon, comments: “The government needs to review new rural area criteria with both hard and soft standards. This will promote nationwide application and encourage local innovation.”

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said the new criteria in new rural development include sustainable development indicators by the United Nations: “New rural area development and agricultural restructuring should be linked to economic restructuring. Dedicated investment resources for rural development are required to promote this potential area.”
