(VOVworld) – More than 200 youth representatives will take part in a program called Youth journey for the homeland’s seas and islands 2016 which began Monday.

Participants will visit islands in the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and the DK1 platform. Themed “Youths and a green Truong Sa”, the trip includes a pilot project for treating waste with microorganisms, research on general approaches to growing plants on the islands, studying and producing machines to desalinate saltwater and solar-powered machines. The program, organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the High Command of Navy, teaches young Vietnamese national pride and responsibility for maritime territorial and sovereignty protection and socio-economic development.
