Activities to mark 70th anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army
(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in the capital Brasilia by Vietnam’s Embassy to Brazil to mark the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army. Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Defense Attaché, Colonel Nghiem Quoc Huy, said Vietnam’s army has constantly expanded its friendly and cooperative relations with other armies and peoples around the world on the basis of respecting mutual sovereignty, territorial integrity, and interests, contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.
In an interview with to VOV to mark the anniversary, Ukraine’s war veteran Yuri Kislisin praised the Vietnamese army’s victory over its enemies, saying that from a small troop established by General Vo Nguyen Giap, the Vietnam People’s Army has grown into a strong military force.

He said many Ukraine’s military experts joined their Soviet Union peers to work in Vietnam from 1965 to 1975. Yuri Kislisin came to Vietnam in 1970 to work with Regiment 236, Vietnam’s first antiaircraft regiment, stationed in Thanh Hoa. He completed his mission and returned to Ukraine in 1971.
