(VOVWORLD) - A series of significant events are underway to mark the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, June 21.

At a meeting with journalists in Hanoi on Friday, Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang expressed his deep appreciation for the support, coordination, and contributions of press agencies to the development of the Vietnam People's Army.
Giang said: "It’s important to strengthen communications about the military and dedicate specialized programs and columns about military and defense. Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Review online newspaper and other press agencies have produced live television and radio programs, online stories, documentaries and thematic films reflecting the soldiers' combat readiness in safeguarding national border, sea and island sovereignty."
He highlighted the significance of this year and next year, noting the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Festival. The General urged press agencies to continue their collaboration and provide thorough coverage of both achievements and challenges to help the Army fulfill its missions.

Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang chaired a meeting in Hanoi with leaders of news and press organizations. He praised their crucial role in mobilizing public participation in the "movement of all people participating in protecting national security."
The Minister expressed his hope that journalists would continue to support the police force, serving as the vanguard in safeguarding the Party's ideological foundation.
The same day, the People's Committee of Lang Son province organized an awards ceremony of the 4th Lang Son Provincial Press Award in 2024. 50 out of 111 submitted works were awarded.
