(VOVworld) – The Chairman of the African Union (AU), Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, arrived in Burkina Faso on Monday for urgent talks on the country's political transition. He said that his visit was to participate in a solution, not to sanction or threaten Burkina Faso. He urged Burkina Faso to act more quickly if it wants to escape from the political crisis.

Abdel Aziz came to Burkina Faso a day after the opposition and civil society groups agreed on a blueprint for transition that provides for new elections in a year. The deal now has to be negotiated with the military.
