AMAF is to adopt 23 plans of action in agriculture, forestry

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung of Vietnam, the current chair country of the AMAF, delivered the opening speech at the meeting: “I believe that with  regional cooperation and efforts made by member countries, this meeting will help accelerate the building of the ASEAN Economic Community,  ASEAN Vision and Strategic Action Plan on ASEAN cooperation in food and agro-forestry from 2016 through 2025. As a member of the ASEAN Community, Vietnam respects regional cooperation processes and will continue to invest in resources and research and promote initiatives to enhance cooperation and sustainable agriculture development.”

The 40th AMAF meeting is scheduled to approve proposed strategies, policies and guidelines for the region’s agriculture, forestry and fisheries, and propose further initiatives on cooperation with partner countries and international targeting the ASEAN Vision at 2025 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals at 2030. The approval of 23 Plans of Action in agro-forestry cooperation will be considered at the meeting
