Giang delivered a keynote speech in a dialogue between the UNDP Executive Board and UN member states held in New York on Tuesday to exchange lessons learned on overcoming the crisis and turning national aspirations into specific results.
He said that the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed economic growth, exacerbated many other challenges, and made the task of recovering and maintaining stable economic development more and more burdensome.
The Government of Vietnam has taken multiple measures to ensure people's health, effectively control the pandemic, without sacrificing people's health for economic growth, according to the Ambassador, who added Vietnam successfully launched its largest vaccination campaign in history, ensuring all people were fully vaccinated as of March last year.
As a result, Vietnam has recovered well from the pandemic, with economic growth reaching 8.02% last year, the highest in the past 10 years, stabilizing the macro-economy and effectively managing debt.

The Ambassador also said that strengthening the partnership on the basis of mutual respect and sharing is an indispensable factor to achieve sustainable development results.
This year Vietnam and UNDP celebrate 45 years of their cooperation for sustainable development.
