The meeting’s Joint Communiqué affirms commitment to a stronger ASEAN to address rising challenges, ensure the interests of the people, and play a central role in global development and prosperity.

The 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting made the news headlines with meetings between ASEAN and its partners. Many documents were approved and specific commitments made, affirming support for ASEAN's development and stability efforts.

The East Sea, Myanmar, Ukraine, and North Korea issues were tabled at the ASEAN Regional Forum and the East Asia Summit.

There remained disagreements and criticisms on many issues, but it’s more important to look to the future, with dialogue and cooperation as the message to ensure a certain harmony, or at least seek common ground.

The Vietnamese delegation led by Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son conveyed the message of being more active, responsible and proactive in ASEAN cooperation and contributing to peace and stability in Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific.

FM Son attended the 30th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), which adopted a Joint Statement celebrating the 30th anniversary of ARF establishment.

The document was co-sponsored by Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Australia and Canada. It reaffirmed ASEAN's leading role in the regional architecture, pledging to promote constructive dialogue, strengthen cooperation, and ensure the full and active participation and contribution of countries to ARF development.
