Le Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said at a conference in Lao Cai province on Friday to review 3 years of implementation of the program that the set targets have been fulfilled.
“Vietnam has been recognized by the international community as a bright spot in poverty reduction and is the only country in Asia implementing a multi-dimensional, inclusive, and sustainable poverty reduction program,” said Thanh.
He attributed the results to the enormous efforts of the entire political system, agencies at all levels, sectors, and localities to address poverty reduction in areas with a high poverty rate, and in ethnic minority and remote areas.
“In addition, people’s awareness has changed. Hundreds of poor households have self-escaped poverty,” said Mr. Thanh.
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said it will continue to accelerate capital disbursement, improve multidimensional poverty-reduction standards in line with sustainable development goals, and ensure the gradual increase of minimum living standards and access to basic services for people until 2030.
