APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting opens in China

(VOVworld) – Finance Ministers of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation economies met on Wednesday in Beijing, China amid worries about economic stagnation in the region.

The participants, including representatives from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank will discuss economic prospects for the region and coordinated action to improve the situation. 

The APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting was held over one day after China, the world’s second biggest economy, said its economic growth had fallen to a record low to 7.3 percent over the past 5 years. APEC member economies account for 60 percent of global GDP. The Asian Development Bank said around 9 trillion USD is needed to invest in infrastructure in Asia between 2010 and 2020.
