(VOVworld)- An international art and culture program themed: “Buddha’s lotus spirit” opened Thursday in front of the Bodhisattva shrine of Bai Dinh pagoda in Ninh Binh province, as part of 2014 UN Vesak Day activities. The event features various international performances, conveying the message that while Buddha entered nirvana 26 centuries ago, his enlightenment still points the way for living beings in search of tranquility and happiness. The annual Vesak celebrations provides an opportunity for Buddhist followers to gather and honor a noble lifestyle that purifies people’s souls, thus contributing to building a society of peace, prosperity, and happiness.
