(VOVworld) – The first Chinese ambassador to ASEAN, Yang Xiuping, has presented credentials to ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan to officially take up her duties. At yesterday’s ceremony at ASEAN headquarters in Jakarta, Indonesia, Pitsuwan and Yang discussed ASEAN-China cooperation and pledged to work more closely to strengthen their strategic partnership. Yang said it was great honor to assume the post of first Chinese ambassador to ASEAN. She said that Chinese delegation’s mission is “to serve as a bridge of communication, a linkage of cooperation, and a messenger of friendship to take the ASEAN-China strategic partnership to a new height”.
