There are still worrying issues – the East Sea, Myanmar, the Taiwan Strait, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict – putting internal and external pressures on ASEAN.
Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet (C) speaks at the meeting. |
Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet said: "ASEAN has maintained a good economic growth rate compared to other regions - over 5% this year and the same is forecast for next year. Building the ASEAN Community saw progress and the launch of the ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision. ASEAN also made great strides in external relations."
Vietnam has joined the ASEAN community 27 years ago, and since then has steadily strengthened its position, role and voice in ASEAN. Vietnam's 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship made a positive mark, particularly Vietnam’s effort to play a leading role to find a solution to the Myanmar problem. In 2022, Vietnam actively supported Cambodia as ASEAN Chair 2022 and contributed significantly to the work of ASEAN.
