(VOVworld) - ASEAN member states are attending a seminar on combating piracy and maritime terrorism in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from February 24-26.

Participants discussed piracy in regional waters, relevant laws stipulated by each country, and the cooperation of ASEAN members in enhancing maritime security.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thi Kim Nguyet of the Vietnamese delegation urged ASEAN members to boost the sharing of information and organize additional capacity-building programs. Nguyet said Vietnam has implemented measures to combat piracy and maritime terrorism, including workshops and seminars, drills on maritime crime control, and joint hotlines with the Philippines and China.
