In three working days, from Wednesday to Friday, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam, as the rotating Chair of the 21st ASEAN Conference on Civil Service Matters (ACCSM 21) hosted the meeting of the Heads of Civil Service of ASEAN countries, ASEAN +3 and the Good Governance Forum.
The topics discussed included challenges posed to the ASEAN civil service in the post-COVID-19 period, renovating the training and retraining to improve the quality of the contingent of civil servants, and digitizing public services.
Pham Minh Hung, Director of the Administrative Reform Department at the Ministry of Home Affairs, said: “Mechanism of management, recruitment, use, and creating promotion opportunities for civil servants, then, the civil servant management model towards building a team of professional civil servants serving the people is the foundation for the success of some countries' civil service. There are many different forms that encourage civil servants to train themselves and learn for life. In addition, public service reform is the foundation in building a civil service for the people. This is the policy that Vietnam is implementing.”
