(VOVWORLD) - An "attempted coup" in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), was suppressed on Sunday by defense and security forces, said Sylvain Ekenge, spokesperson for the Congolese army.

In a televised message, Ekenge mentioned the involvement of foreign participants in the coup, without specifying their country of origin.
It is reported that the army has restored control over the situation, and people in Kinshasa can now travel with peace of mind.
