AUKUS, clean energy in focus for Australian PM’s US trip
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has arrived in the United States for an official visit to reinforce relations with its ally. Mr. Albanese said Australia’s US relationship is “their most important”.
One of the key focuses of the trip will be to flesh out details of the Climate, Critical Minerals and Clean Energy Transformation Compact that Albanese and Biden signed in May. There is expected to be some discussion around the two countries’ defense relationship, ensuring that the details of the Australia, UK, US (AUKUS) partnership are put in place.
The US and Australian leaders are also expected to discuss other issues, including the Israel-Hamas conflict, and bilateral cooperation to assure security and stability based on their common values and positions in the world.
The visit will last until Thursday.
