Three million Pfizer adult vaccine doses arrived in September in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with a further 1.2 million pediatric doses arriving in Hanoi on Monday. Australia has now provided more than 26 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to Vietnam.
Australia and UNICEF also handed over five refrigerated trucks to be stationed at the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Hanoi, the Pasteur Institute in HCM City, the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang, and the Central Highlands Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Dak Lak.
These vehicles are essential to the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out and routine immunization program as they ensure that vaccines are transported safely across the country.
The Australian government provides healthcare worker training, communications campaigns, and outreach sessions to remote, hard-to-reach areas so that the most vulnerable populations are not left behind.
