Australian TV lauds Vietnam’s fight against coronavirus
(VOVWORLD) - Australia’s Seven News TV channel on Sunday said Vietnam is leading the way in protecting people from coronavirus.
Vietnam, a country of 100 million people, has had just over 320 COVID-19 cases and hasn't recorded a single death from the disease, it said.
Seven News interviewed Matt Young, who works for Australian Chamber of Commerce in Ho Chi Minh City. Young said he hopes Vietnam and Australia will reopen their borders to tourism and trade, since both are doing well in controlling COVID-19.
Young said: “Here we very much hope that Vietnam is one the first countries that you guys consider opening up to soon. We 'd love to see you here and to come to see you down there. It makes sense when last year Australia and New Zealand signed a new trade agreement with ASEAN. So you guys are already close with Vietnam. It would be fantastic to see Australians back in Vietnam, but safe.”
