Awards presented to outstanding literature works for children
(VOVworld)- As many as 13 outstanding books were awarded prizes by the Vietnamese-Danish project on fostering literature for children at a ceremony in Hanoi on Thursday.
The works were selected from nearly 1,000 entries to the 2013-2015 writing-for-children campaign in the framework of the second phase of the project, which was jointly implemented by the Danish Writers Association and Kim Dong Publishing House. The two first prize winners are Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa with her story called “the Straw Prince” under the theme “Knocking on the heart’s door” for children from 10-14 years old and Ta Lan Hanh with “the Wonderful Friend” on the theme “The day I met” for children aged 3-6 years old. Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa said:
“This is the second time I have participated in this contest. I am passionate about writing about children. I’m very surprised to receive the prize. Through the story, I want to encourage unfortunate children to overcome their difficulties and strive forward”.
The project aims to enhance writing opportunities for Vietnamese authors and illustrators while facilitating access to books and stories for children. A wide range of other activities have also been conducted to support literature for children, including seminars, workshops and exchanges between Vietnamese and Danish writers.
Nearly 50 story-telling trains, and 16 readers clubs have been set up for children in remote areas nationwide. More than 43,000 books have been given away to children.
