Prime Minister Chinh suggested that Bac Lieu adopt appropriate plans and solutions to turn the province into a shrimp industry center and a clean energy center of Vietnam and a tourism center of the Mekong Delta.

To achieve that goal, the province needs to continue to boost industrialization and modernization, economic restructuring, industry, trade, and services on the basis of science, technology and innovation, and digital transformation, the PM said, adding that Bac Lieu needs to capitalize on its strengths to strongly develop high-tech agriculture, tourism and services, focusing on comprehensive development of the marine economy.

The Prime Minister called for regional linkages, focusing on key products such as shrimp and rice, building and promoting the brand, improving the efficiency of fishing in association with the protection of sustainable resources, and resolutely fighting against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

He requested more attention on planning work to promote potentials and strengths, open up new development space, reform administrative procedure, improve business investment environment, and enhance competitiveness and efficiency of public administration at provincial level.
