(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump said Friday that Bahrain has reached an agreement to normalize relations with Israel, becoming the 2nd Arab country to do so during the Trump presidency.

The Israel-Bahrain normalization is a major betrayal to the Palestinian and Jewish people, said Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, a senior foreign policy advisor to the Iranian Parliament. The Palestinian government and the Hamas Islamic movement called the Israel-Bahrain deal a backstab and an act of aggression against the Palestinian.
President Trump is scheduled to host the signing ceremony of the Israel-UAE normalization in the White House next Tuesday, when Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani are expected to sign an Israel-Bahrain historical peace statement.
