Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line officially launched
(VOVWORLD) - Leaders of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Georgia on Monday launched an 826-kilometer rail link connecting the three countries, establishing a freight and passenger link between the Middle-East and Europe that bypasses the Caucasus.
The 10-year construction line includes 103 km of new track and will have the capacity to transport one million passengers and 6.5 million tons of cargo.
The railway is designed to be a crucial part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), connecting China and Europe.
