(VOVworld) - Over 5,000 suspects were arrested on the first two days of Bangladesh’s week-long campaign to mop up all rebel groups in the country.

According to Bangladeshi police, 47 of the arrested were members of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB); and 1 belonged to Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), which is forbidden to operate in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the police will arrest anyone involved in the murders of activists and religious minorities.
